No 18 : Week 8 ; Web 2.0 tools
(Just corrected this one as it had the wrong number!)Another account opened - just as well they are all free! Zoho wasn't quite the hohum that I thought it might be. Certainly like the idea of downloading documents and to be able to share them with people that you select. I found the template page quite fun - almost like a mini "trade me" of documents. This would be very useful for people who are searching for ideas on a specific document but don't know where to start.

Week 6 : Library 2.0
These articles certainly make you think of what the future may look like. Some ideas thought of 10 years ago are now reality. The people who are so far forward thinking are certainly giving us something to ponder over. Library 3.0 with the idea of "collecting librarians" is probably already happening on a personal basis with collections as they are at the moment. Often cusromers want to talk to a specific staff member as they know they will get great service. Library 4.0 and 3D is way out there, but with the comforting thought that the library is still the same in some aspects. Interesting times ahead!

Web 2.0 getting to me!
On a completely rtandom track, I noticed the new books had arrived. Looking through the titles I noticed "the blogging years 1990......." Really? I didn't think blogging had been around that long? Pulled the book out and the correct title was "The bolger years"! Web 2.0 is getting to me!
Del.icio.us
I guess I am not really interested in what other people blog about - or could be I don't have any dedicated interest. Seem to be interested in lots of things but not to a great extent. So del.icio.us I found to be very American based - I can see how some people would like this site to book mark favourites if you spent a lot of time on the computer which is not my thing. ( prefer delicious as in food!)

Wikis:
To wiki ? - or too wacky! It seems a bit random to have sites where people can just change information at a whim. There are a lot of good sites and I especially like the concept of reducing emails for a major event where you have many people involved. Cetainly would cut down the amount of misinformation. The Book lovers wiki is very like Librarything which I like. I know I did use Wikipeadia when I was doing the Community Profile (dare I admit that?) to find information about paintings which was very helpful.

Sooo! to technology. Dare I admit that i am finding it easier to post on my blog!! Still not sure whether I will keep it at the end of the training. Mind you, if i wain the Lotto then I will keep it to tell everyone about my travels.
Yy latest toy which I bought at the beginning of the year is a digital camera. So far I have learnt how to download photos and have just learnt how to shrink my photos when I send them to my family ( no longer takes me ten minutes to attach them to the email - only 2 mins: also the family don't have to wait ages before they can view them). I am hoping to try doing a postcard with one of the photos and also maybe some other tricks learnt during this training. I guess the next step is to take out a library book and find out just what can be learnt - what you don't know can't be learnt until you know you didn't know it. (good grief - that sounds very profound!).Knowledge is the key!

Well, here is my attempt at a post card! This site is quite cool and you could spend a lot of time playing with it. Anyone with a small business would find that this is an innovative way to make something quite unique. Perhaps in the future you could have a library specific card with a photo of your library!
